Well, yes and no. What should happen is that all your traffic gets directed to one version – so all the data in GSC will be on that version and the other 3 versions should have no data. The advantage of having all 4 versions is to help you keep an eye on that and make sure no traffic is accidentally going to the other 3 versions. So it’s not ‘essential’ to have all 4 versions, but it is ‘best practice’. Hope that helps!

I only added one version of my website to Google Search Console, so have I been missing out on crucial SEO data this whole time?

Do I really need to add all four variations to get the full benefit?

Sorry to hear about Ionos. It’s actually usually really easy to move from one host to another. The exact process depends from host to host, but it’s usually just a case of giving them some details and they then do all the actual work. What I recommend you do is you contact the host you want to move to and find out what their procedure is before you make the move (I always think asking a pre-purchase question is a good idea of any company as it gives you an inkling of what their post-purchase service might be like!) that way you know what the procedure will be before you commit or pay anything. Usually host companies make it really easy because they want your custom! And yes, you can absolutely keep your domain. Is your domain host Ionos too? If so, you can either leave that with Ionos or move it over to your new host – whichever you prefer. Again, chat to your new host and they will tell you what you need to do in either scenario. Good morning Eb,

I have gone with Ionos, but I’m finding them frustrating with their contsnat push for me to pay for extras, etc. It’s also not as user-friendly as I had understood it would be. When you move from one host to another how does it work please? How do I keep my domain?
