Thank you! I would focus mainly on low competition keywords, with a few competitive keywords that are really needed for topical authority. Like if your food blog was a salad blog, I would mainly concentrate on low competition keywords in the salad niche, but I would also do a handful of recipes that would be weird if they were not included – like vinaigrette, Greek salad and Waldorf salad.
